It turns out my Asus Z97-A motherboard doesn't have an Asmedia USB controller, there is a Z97-A USB 3.1 version that does though. The USB controller on my Z97-A is an Intel. Yet the Win 10 download page for Z97-A has Asmedia USB drivers. In my discussions at Ten forums we're still unsure if the Asmedia drivers are of any use to the standard. If you use the Windows 8and Windows 10 system, you will find that Intel did not provide this driver for Windows 8 and Windows 10, you can only find the Windows 7 Intel USB 3.0 xHCI drivers. You can view the chipset model series from the device manager. Here I will download the Intel 8/9/100 series because I checked the device manager and find my chipset is Intel 8 series.

How to Install Intel Windows 7 USB 3.0 xHCI driver on Windows 10

1. After you download the zip file, you can right-click it to uncompress it.

2. Go to device manager, and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and find the Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller -1.0 (Microsoft).

3. Right-click it and choose Update Driver Software.

4. Choose Browse my computer for driver software.

5. Choose the below option: Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

6. Choose Have Disk.
